We work with a lot of small engine shops and commercial landscapers. The small engine and lawn mower market is a great fit for AMSOIL. It is not uncommon for small engine equipment like zero turn lawn mowers, UTV’s, compact tractors, tillers, etc., to experience hard use and neglect. Using quality products like AMSOIL synthetic lubricants will ensure long life and efficient operation.
We recently began to work with a local commercial lawn equipment store that sells and services zero turn mowers. At first, they were excited to be able to offer their customers AMSOIL products. We established their account and placed an initial order for products.
Lawn mower manufacturer to deny warranty if synthetic oils are used
Upon stopping by to check on the store, I was informed by the store manager that they cannot sell AMSOIL products because it will void the warranties of the mowers. I was told that the mower company said that synthetic oils are not recommended for their mowers and would void their warranty.
After explaining to the store manager that synthetic oils cannot arbitrarily void a warranty, I offered to provide evidence of not only that fact but information explaining why offering AMSOIL product will help customers’ equipment run more efficiently and last longer.

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which is enforced by the FTC, makes it illegal for manufacturers or dealers to claim that your warranty is void or to deny coverage under your warranty.
It’s illegal for a dealer or manufacture to deny your warranty coverage simply because you had routine maintenance or repairs performed by someone else. Routine maintenance often includes oil changes, tire rotations, belt replacement, fluid checks and flushes, new brake pads, and inspections.

AMSOIL products are designed for heavy use during extreme temperatures. With the cost of commercial grade lawn mowers exceeding $10,000, taking steps to protect that investment, as well as reduce downtime, is essential for any lawn care professional.

Question regarding new 2017 Briggs and Stratton 27 hp tuff series. Owner manual reads to use 10w-30. But if operating during higher than 80 degrees outside, you could experience oil consumption. So then it reads to change to 5w-30 synthetic oil. So which Amsoil product do I use for this tractor with that Briggs engine?
Thanks
David, I would almost certainly advise on using our SAE 30/10w30 synthetic Small engine oil. This product is actually a straight weight oil with no viscosity index improvers. Because the oil is 100% syntheic it can flow in cold temperatures better than a conventional oil. Therefore AMSOIL has subjected this product to the 10w30 cold temperature test and it passes with flying colors. The SAE 30/10w30 has a pour point of -40 F. You will see great cold weather startup as well as lower oil consumption because it can also handle higher temps.
Commercial Lawncare in central Florida. Can I use Amsoil 20-50 big twin in my 27 HP Mowers? Been using in my 1972 Triumph for Years.
I would stick with the AMSOIL small engine oil or the ARO premium protection. Actually we are getting ready to come out with a new product in conjunction with Kohler it’s a 10w-50 fully-synthetic.
Hello
Can you please offer timing on when this 10w50 product will be available? I just purchased a new BadBoy mower with Kohler engine and the BadBoy manual specifies 10w50. If this product is not yet available or won’t be soon which Amsoil product would be the recommended substitute, if any?
Thank you
Mike Henderson, I don’t believe AMSOIL has any plans to produce an equivalent to the Kohler 10w50 made by AMSOIL. Kohler specified this as a stand alone product even though AMSOIL makes this oil, AMSOIL dealers do not have access to it.
Also notice in your owners manual there are other viscosities listed. Only the Kohler branded product is listed for the 300 hr oil change. Using the AMSOIL 15w50 Small Engine oil is a good replacement in most areas and is specified for a 200 hour interval. I talked with AMSOIL corp about this last year and said this is suitable for these engines. Also if you are in a colder climate you could also use the AMSOIL 10w40 small engine oil as a replacement. You will probably notice pricing wise the AMSOIL is about half the cost of the Kohler product and probably even less expensive if you have an AMSOIL Factory Direct account either as a Preferred Customer or as a Commercial User if you have a legitimate business. Check out the AMSOIL Account Wizard to find out which is best for you.
Also note that AMSOIL has their own warranty learn more at: amsoil.com/about/guarantee/
Awesome, thanks for the info
