WILL MY SEALS START TO LEAK IF I CONVERT OVER TO AMSOIL ON A ENGINE WITH
159000 ON IT. IF THAT WORKS I ANM THINKING ABOUT JOINING THR AMSOIL FAMILY.
Craigondeck,
In most cases no your seals will not leak. In some cases there may be minor leaking while AMSOIL is cleaning your engine. AMSOIL is specifically designed with a robust additive package that works great for high mileage engine. Included in this additive package are specific seal swell agents that over time can rejuvenate and correct minor seal deficiencies.
In the case that you have leaks, there are three things you can do.
We would also recommend that you do an AMSOIL engine flush prior to switching over to AMSOIL. The AMSOIL engine flush is an additive based product (not a solvent based like many others). The concentrated additives can also help mitigate any problems associated with changing over to AMSOIL.
Lastly, it may be best to used a “stepped” approach to changing over to AMSOIL. Start out with our OE product for a few thousand miles, then move up to the XL for 6 months. Then lastly if there are no issues go to the signature series. If I were buying a used car with high miles this would be what I would do.
Again give is a call if you have further questions or would like to place an order.
