Prior to November, 1999 I had been researching the best motor oil to use in my pickup truck. I had special ordered a 1997 Ford F150 when we returned from being stationed in Germany. I already knew that synthetic oil was superior to conventional oils. The question I had what was the best oil and how long could I go on an oil change? After running into someone online talking about doing 25,000 mile oil changes and the fact that my current brand of oil wasn’t up to the tasked. I challenged the gentleman about recommending such long drain intervals. In 1999 the average oil change recommendation was still 3,000 miles, even with a synthetic oil. So for me to understand that I could go up to 25,000 miles on an oil change I had to see proof. Turns out the person that had recommended AMSOIL to me was also a tribologist and had had hundreds of documented oil analysis of extended oil changes over 25,000 miles. I went down the rabbit hole to understand what made AMSOIL better than any other oil on the market.
After several months of research into AMSOIL and purchasing products for my truck, the gentlemen mentioned that I could become a dealer. At the time I really wanted to be a financial planner but had recently gotten turned down on an application for a prominent financial planning company. After looking into the option of becoming an AMSOIL dealer and weighing all the pro’s and con’s I filled out the dealer application around mid-November 1999. As they say the rest is history!
25 years of being an AMSOIL Dealer
We lived in El Paso when I became an AMSOIL Dealer. At the time there were no places stocking AMSOIL locally. We set to work on getting AMSOIL Retailers in place all over El Paso and surrounding areas like Las Cruces, New Mexico. Looking back on our journey as an AMSOIL dealer was not easy, but also wasn’t really that hard. The key is that we consistently worked on building our business. Within the first 15 months of being an AMSOIL Dealer we had over 25 retailers around our area as well as a growing base of customers. We strove to learn the most we could about AMSOIL products and applications as well as building our sales and marketing skills. One of the things we like about being in AMSOIL was that we have no territories. I knew we would leaving El Paso Texas as my spouse was still active duty in the US Army. I had signed into the Army Reserves and continued my military service until retiring in 2021. As we built our AMSOIL Business as well as our AMSOIL Dealer team, we have been fortunate to be able to create a lifestyle that allowed us to incorporate business and success into our daily living. Working from home isn’t for everyone, but even back in 1999 we saw that the ability to work wherever, to help customers take better care of their vehicles and equipment was what we wanted.
Fast forward 25 years later to today and we are thankful for the opportunity to grow with AMSOIL. We’re thankful for being able to have great customers, accounts and a dealer team across the United States and Canada.

From the very beginning we knew we wanted to make AMSOIL a full time income. We knew it was going to take time and there would be trials and tribulations along they way. Luckily we had great mentorship with AMSOIL Corporate employees as well as our upline Direct Jobbers, Jim Ball and eventually we were able to meet one of the very top AMSOIL Dealer teams in the company. David and Carol Bell, took us under their wing, even though we were several levels below them. They invited to training events, as well as included us in their gatherings at AMSOIL Events.
We also took it upon ourselves to learn and take training. We attended the annual AMSOIL University held in Superior Wisconsin factory headquarters every year for over 12 years. We attended local training and even held training ourselves. We took classes on sales, marketing and even online business like SEO and Web Development. One of our commitments to our customers was always.
We are currently in the top 1% of all AMSOIL Dealer according to the AMSOIL Dealer Income Disclosure Statement. Being a top AMSOIL Dealer means we’re serious about our business. While many AMSOIL Dealers treat this like a hobby or a side income. We have always taken the AMSOIL Dealer Business Opportunity Seriously. From the very beginning we became T-1 Certified AMSOIL Dealers. We have taken every training module available in the AMSOIL Dealers zone. We began as AMSOIL dealers back in 1999, I was only 29 years old. I’ve always been a future oriented person. Many dealers over the years have come and gone. We recognized the income potential and the opportunity for us to be self-employed and to be able to do what we want, when we want, with whom we want for however long we want. We understand that it takes time and effort to build a solid AMSOIL Dealership, and we have proven to ourselves and AMSOIL Inc that we have what it takes to make it to the top.
